Timber fencing

Timber, featheredge and closeboard fencing

Traditional timber, featheredge and closeboard fencing remains a practical and attractive option. Installations can be specified with treated timber or concrete posts and suitable gravel boards or kickboards, depending on the ground conditions, preferred appearance and budget.

All our timber and featheredge fencing photographs are genuine completed installations.

New fence installation: your questions

How much does a new fence installation cost?

Complete new fence installation projects typically start from around £2,000. The final cost depends on the fence length, chosen materials, posts, ground conditions, access and whether the existing fence needs removing.

Which fencing system is best for my garden?

ColourFence manufactured from Colorbond® steel is a durable, low-maintenance metal fencing option. Composite fencing provides a modern finish with reduced ongoing upkeep, while timber and featheredge fencing offer a traditional appearance. DuraPost can also provide an alternative to traditional timber or concrete fence posts. We can recommend suitable options after seeing the boundary and discussing the preferred finish and budget.

Do you remove the existing fence?

Removal and disposal of the existing fence can be included where required. This will be clearly shown within the written quotation.

Can you install fencing on sloping ground?

Plenty of Newport gardens run uphill or sit on a slope. We step panels to follow the ground and build in retaining where it's needed, so you get a level, gap-free finish rather than a fence that follows every dip.

Which areas do you cover?

We regularly cover Newport and nearby areas. Suitable larger projects are also considered across Usk, Monmouth, Chepstow, Abergavenny and surrounding parts of Monmouthshire.

Can I send photographs before arranging a visit?

Yes. Sending clear photographs, the postcode, approximate measurements and details about access can help us provide initial guidance before arranging a site visit.
