Timber fencing, built the proper way.
There's still nothing like a solid timber fence. We build featheredge and closeboard boundaries, and fit lap and decorative panel fencing, across Newport, Cardiff, South Wales and Bristol — on concreted posts with gravel boards, so they stand straight for years.
Featheredge, closeboard and panel — done right
Featheredge fencing (also called closeboard) is built on site from overlapping vertical boards fixed to horizontal arris rails. It's the strongest, most private timber fence you can have and it shrugs off the wind far better than a flimsy lap panel, which is why it's our go-to for exposed boundaries.
If you're after something quicker and easier on the budget, we also fit panel fencing — lap, slatted and decorative styles. Whatever the choice, it goes on concreted-in posts with a concrete gravel board at the base, so the timber never sits in wet ground and rots from the bottom up.

Timber fencing questions
What's the difference between featheredge and closeboard fencing?
They're the same style under two names. Featheredge (or closeboard) is built on site from overlapping vertical boards fixed to horizontal rails, rather than a pre-made panel. It's the strongest, most private timber fence and copes far better with wind than a standard lap panel.
Do you fit panel fencing as well?
Yes. If you want a tidy, cost-effective boundary we fit lap and decorative panel fencing too. We always recommend concreted posts and a gravel board underneath so the timber never sits in wet ground.
Will a timber fence rot?
Good timber, kept off the ground on a concrete gravel board with concreted-in posts, gives a solid 15–20 years. Most fences fail at the base where they sit in damp soil, so that detail is exactly where we don't cut corners.
Can you match my existing fence?
Usually, yes. Whether it's featheredge, closeboard or panels, we'll match the style and height as closely as we can so a repair or extension blends in with what's already there.
