Two kinds of garden, one short drive
Cwmbran was laid out as a new town, so the plots are regular, the boundaries are long and straight, and a great many of them went in at roughly the same time. That is why fences round here tend to fail street by street rather than house by house. It also means a full boundary replacement is quick to price and quick to install.
Head up the valley through Pontypool towards Blaenavon and it changes completely. Gardens start to slope, sometimes severely, and the question stops being which fence and starts being how do we get a level, usable space out of this at all. That is where decking, terracing and sleeper retaining walls earn their money.
We are ten minutes up the road in Newport, so getting to you for a look does not need to turn into an expedition.

Cwmbran
Croesyceiliog, Llanyrafon, Fairwater, Thornhill and the rest of the new town estates. Regular plots and long rear boundaries, so full replacement runs with matching side gates are straightforward to price and install.
Pontypool
Older terraced and semi-detached stock with tighter access and steeper ground. Getting materials round the back is often the constraint, so we plan access at the quote rather than discovering it on day one.
Griffithstown & Sebastopol
A mix of older terraces and newer infill. Plenty of boundary fencing between neighbours where getting the line and the height agreed up front saves everyone a conversation later.
New Inn & Penygarn
Sloping rear gardens where a level deck or a terraced patio makes far more of the space than a lawn on a gradient ever will. Sleeper retaining is usually part of the answer.
Blaenavon
High, exposed and properly weathered. Standard timber posts have a hard time up here, so DuraPost or metal fencing is the sensible spend if you would rather not be back out fixing it every winter.
Llanyrafon & Oakfield
Family estates where gardens get heavy use. Composite fencing and composite decking do well here precisely because they shrug off the wear and do not need re-treating every year.

Do you cover the whole of Torfaen?
Yes. Cwmbran, Pontypool, Griffithstown, Croesyceiliog, Llanyrafon, New Inn, Sebastopol and up as far as Blaenavon. It is a short run from Newport and we are in the borough most weeks.
Our garden slopes badly. Is decking or a patio better?
On a real slope, decking is usually cheaper and less disruptive. A patio means digging out, retaining the bank and shifting a lot of spoil, whereas a raised deck sits on posts and gives you a level platform without moving the ground. Where the fall is gentler, a terraced patio often looks better. We will measure the drop and tell you which way the money is better spent.
Cwmbran gardens all seem to have the same failing fence. Why?
Cwmbran was built out as a new town over a fairly short period, so a lot of the original boundaries went in around the same time and are now reaching the end of their life together. That is why whole streets seem to go at once. The upside is that runs are regular and predictable, which keeps replacement costs sensible.
Can you replace a whole boundary in one go?
Yes, and on the regular plot sizes around Cwmbran it is usually the most economical way to do it. Doing the full run at once means one set-up, one delivery and a consistent finish, rather than paying repeatedly to patch sections as they fail.
Do you do smaller repairs in Torfaen too?
